last week I was at the Elephant transit home..This is Namal the juvenile whose hind leg had to be amputated. He has a costume made local prosthetic limb
There was also a 2 month old baby who was critically ill… They wanted the blood samples analyzed in a good laboratory in Colombo. So I volunteered to rush the samples to Colombo on my way back . The Guy in the checked shirt in sarong is Dr Vijitha Perera, one of sri lanka’s foremost vets and elephant experts. I have never seen a more dedicated person. His whole life has been spent treating and looking after wild elephants.
