Sameera and Kapila had set off by jeep in the morning from the Elephant transit home. This is situated well
…before the park entrance and is on the western side of the park. They had basically traversed north, skirting the western side of the park boundary. They had visited the Panahaduwa/ Galpaya area where we had reports of Raja sightings form our fisherman contact, now gone missing! But we found two others also who also say that they had seen “Dala Kota” –“short tusk”( as Raja seems to be known here).
They had veered inwards leaving the park boundary and then arrived back at Handagirya, and stayed the night at Welipathayaya, a small village at the northern most point, about 3 km outside the park.
