TWO DAY CONFERENCE ON
“SUSTAINABLE BIODIVERSITY & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT”
July 12 & 13, 2011 – 9.00 a.m. to 5.15 p.m.
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, with the initiation of the John Keells Foundation and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), will organize a two day conference under the theme “Sustainable Biodiversity & Economic Development on 12th and 13th of July, 2011.
As you may be aware, 22nd of May is celebrated as the “International Biological Diversity Day”, as declared by the United Nations. Biological diversity is the resource upon which families, communities, nations and future generations depend on. It is the link between all organisms on earth, binding each into an inter-dependant ecosystem, in which all species have their specific role of responsibility. Through this Conference we intend increasing awareness and understanding on the importance of biodiversity and its preservation, which we believe would be an important tool in achieving development and alleviating poverty in Sri Lanka.
All of us are affected, in one way or another by Climate Change. Species that have no where to run are gradually being pushed towards extinction. The good news is that there are lots of things you can do to help ease the pressure on this loss of biodiversity.
Join us at this two day conference on “Sustainable Biodiversity & Economic Development”.
